Yes, under the Companies Act, every Singapore company must appoint a qualified company secretary within 6 months of incorporation. The position cannot be left vacant for more than 6 months at any time.
The company secretary must be a natural person who is ordinarily resident in Singapore. For companies with paid-up capital above SGD $5 million, additional professional qualifications may be required.
The annual return must be filed with ACRA within 30 days after the Annual General Meeting (AGM). For companies that do not hold an AGM (eligible small companies), the annual return must be filed within 30 days of the due date for holding an AGM.
